BREAKERS EXPANDED COACHING STAFF STRUCTURE

January 9, 2008 - The Santa Cruz County Breakers are excited to announce an expanded structure in our current coaching staff. Under the guidance of our Coaching Director Paolo Carbone, we have expanded our current coaching structure to include two new positions titled Assistant Coaching Directors targeted specifically at the U10-U13 age groups. . These new positions under the supervision of our Coaching Director and will allow the Breakers to develop a much more in-depth player development curriculum. Two current Breakers coaching staff members have been nominated and have accepted these positions. Ashley Edgar will be the Assistant Coaching Director for the U10-U13 Girls. Mike Arzabal will be the Assistant Coaching Director for the U10-U13 Boys. The role of the Assistant Coaching Directors will include the following:

  • Point person for coaches, team administrators and parents at the U10-U13 age groups
  • Assisting team coaches in developing a healthy soccer calendar and achieving a proper balance between training sessions and games; target objective of one game for every three training sessions
  • Direct the weekly Spring and Fall Breakers Junior Academy, Breakers Goal Keeper Academy and Breakers Summer Camps
  • Assisting team coaches with tryouts and player evaluations
  • In conjunction with the Coaching Director develop and implement a player technical development program for the U10-U13 age groups
The addition of these new positions will also allow Coaching Director Paolo Carbone more opportunities to work with the U14-U19 programs focusing on many of the same roles as mentioned above. The Director will also have more time to devote to advanced player development, promotion of players for Regional, State and National level opportunities, assisting in college placement, and the overall promotion of the Breakers player pool.
